Launching a bike in the middle of the UK lockdown and a worldwide pandemic had one fairly major drawback - it proved impossible to get press rides going on the new bike. Fortunately for us, as it's a development of the already well regarded - and rad as hell - Gen2 RocketMAX, plenty of riders have taken it as read that it will be great and bought one anyway. We thank you people from the bottom of our hearts. With the demo tour off the road, and little press to go on, we massively appreciate the faith you placed in us.
However, one little chink of opportunity shone on us. Just as we were finished with the photo bike, Enduro Magazine got in touch saying they were pulling together a celebration of the steel side of the FS market, and they needed pretty much the exact bike we had in our hands. So, off it went to Tweed Valley for a couple of months.
The review is out now in Issue 044 of Enduro Magazine. It's online only and completely free. You just have to download the app onto your device from the Play Store or App Store. It's not invasive at all, there's no pop ups or massive files slowing anything down, it's just a really nice, clean delivery system for an online publication, with one of the nicest mobile interfaces for magazine content I've seen. Just click on the link for your device below, get the app, then download Issue 044.
There's a great background feature on why you might choose a steel bike, then the review of the RocketMAX Gen3 and a couple of other steel FS bikes. It's fair to say they liked the Cotic a lot though....
"Delicate, hesitant and relaxed - three words that aren't in the Cotic RocketMAX's vocabulary. You only have to look at its low-slung silhouette and slammed angles to know the RocketMAX is a hard-charging beast...."
"The Cotic frame is thing of beauty, with a unique ovalised Reynolds 853 steel top tube, intelligent cable routing and many smart design features."
"...we were surprised at just how composed the RocketMAX is on the climbs. We were expecting a barge, but the Cotic displayed a nimbleness that defies its stretched proportions."
"Ultimately the RocketMAX is an awesome bike which shouldn't be defined by it's "niche" frame material, but by its performance. It happily goes toe-to-toe with formidable bikes like the YT Capra, Nukeproof Mega and Specialized Enduro."
There's a lot more where that came from, and we are chuffed to bits. Well worth a read, and the photos are amazing.
