The Escapade: Road, trails, gravel, commute, touring, adventures.
The Escapade fits into your life, for work and play. It will take you to work, to the shops, on holiday, to the hills, on adventures, or just to that quiet place where you get some headspace.
Super versatile, the Escapade is a road bike without limitations. Disc brakes all round. Drop bars. Tyres big and floaty, or small and fast. Mudguards, panniers, bottle cages.
All Cotic Life Bikes have big clearances for big tyres. Sure you can speed it up on something like a 700x28c, but we supply the bikes with big volume 37c slicks. They roll really fast, but float over the potholes in the road and bumps in the trail.
Alongside this we have introduced the WTB Road Plus concept, using their fantastic 650b KOM i25 rims, and the WTB Horizon 650 x 47 tubeless tyres. Smaller rims with big volume tyres give a similar overall diameter to the more usual 700c road wheels, but comfort and grip are massively improved. The larger 47mm wide tyres running tubeless as low as 35 psi float over road imperfections and rough tracks with no weight penalty over the larger 700c wheels and smaller tyres.
The bike is disc brake only, because we have always considered disc brakes to be the best, strongest, safest option for road or offroad riding. Our bolt thru RB3 front fork keeps everything accurate and together with the strongest of new generation hydraulic brakes.
All the fittings for two bottles, rear rack, full mudguards are included, because why limit yourself and your bike to just one thing?
Bikes start from £999 for the Silver build with 9spd drivetrain and Shimano cable discs, or for £1599 we have the fabulous Gold level bikes based around Shimano's superb 105 11spd drivetrain and hydraulic brakes. Brake feel and modulation are superb. It's The Future.
Road Plus wheelsets using the WTB KOM i25 rims, double butted spokes, Horizon 650 x 47 tubeless tyres are a +£200 upgrade for any Escapade bike.Frame Options
For just £399 you could buy a frameset and build your own dream machine.
Strip it all down and speed into the City. Load it all up and head off into the hills. Where will your Escapade take you?
Note: The Original Escapade is still available, with the super versatile Dogsbody2 dropouts for singlespeed, hub gear, fixed, whatever...
The new Escapade has been developed following extensive feedback from our customers and test riders.
We have dropped the bottom bracket 10mm compared to the previous bike (to -70mm) to improve stability.
The new bike has vertical dropouts, replacing the previous bikes' horizontal "track ends". We originally specified the track ends to keep things flexible for drivetrain options - hub gear, singlespeed or gears, but the overwhelming majority of Escapade users have a conventional geared drivetrain. By going to vertical dropouts it makes getting the wheel in and out much, much easier particularly with mudguards fitted.
We have re-worked the stack heights along with the lower bottom bracket to lower the front ends on the small (54cm) and medium (56cm) sizes a little, as the bars couldn't be easily set low enough for some tastes when everything else about the bike (reach, standover, general handling) was perfect. It's always easier to go higher than lower, so we have taken around 10-15mm per size out of the stack (bar height) to give people more options to get the right fit. The large 58cm size remains the same as feedback from our taller riders was than the bar height was just fine on the original version.
We have added a 52cm size to better fit riders below 5ft 7in. This size has a 45cm seat tube to reduce standover height of the frame, and a slightly slacker 71.5 deg head angle to relax the handling if a shorter stem is used, and also to keep toe overlap to a minimum.
All our bikes are hand assembled to order here in Sheffield by Paul, Cy, Will or Richard. If there's anything on the spec you're not sure about, or don't need, give us a ring to discuss. We'd much rather leave something off you don't need and charge you a bit less than waste a perfectly good part you'll not use when we can put it on someone elses bike. Better for you, better for us, less waste, so better for everyone.Build Specification - Gold Carbon - 105
Specifications subject to change without notice. Because of this, bikes show in videos and photos are likely to feature a different spec to that currently offered.
The chart is a guide to frame size for the new Escapade: Ultra Compact Geometry - Road means that the frames are low and long. You'll probably need a 350mm seatpost due to the compact sizing. Note, the sloping top tube design needs to be taken into account if you're comparing seat tube size with other bikes. Drop us a line at email@example.com and we'll be happy to discuss size and set up based on what you're riding at the moment.
