The Escapade: Road, trails, gravel, commute, tour, adventure
The subtle steel Escapade fits into your life, for work, fun or escape. It will take you to the office, to the shops, on holiday, to the hills, on adventures, or just to that quiet place where you get some headspace.
Super versatile, the Escapade is a road bike without limitations. A gravel bike for the lighter side of life. Disc brakes all round. Drop bars. Tyres big and floaty, or small and fast. All the fittings for two bottles, rear rack, anything cages on the fork and full mudguards are included. Why limit yourself and your bike to just one thing?
Strip it all down and speed into the City. Load it all up and head off into the hills. Where will your Escapade take you?
For this new batch of frames, we have returned to our using Cotic Fe tubing. New colours see the return of the very popular Supernova Orange, with updated graphics. The other colour option is the lush Froggatt Green. Due to popular demand we are introducing an XL/60cm size option for the first time. An Escapade for you really tall riders. Frames from this batch are available to pre-order now.
Need some extra carrying capacity? We have custom fitted frame bags for the Escapade, to help you carry kit on your adventures in style. Hand made in the UK, just for us. You can add one to your order when buying a bike or frameset, or if you already ride an Escapade you can order one here.
Ode to the Escapade.
I absolutely LOVE my Escapade. It is my bike to go out for the quick evening blast and also the big day out, the bike to explore on, to enjoy the nursery run, the food shop and the commute. My Escapade and I have travelled in Europe and Canada on some wicked gravel events, carried me through some big days, over big horrible hills and down some marvellous descents. It's carried me through pregnancy and faultlessly into mum life. Towing the trailer, with the macride and without. It's sturdy, confidence inspiring, good looking and flippin' fun. Whether I'm shooting down some singletrack or grinding through the gravel-it feels so capable. On the road and off its my go to bike for adventure (and everywhere in-between).
I f***ing love it.

The chart is a guide to frame size for the Escapade: Ultra Compact Geometry means that the frames are low and long. You'll probably need a 350mm seatpost due to the compact sizing. Note, the sloping top tube design needs to be taken into account if you're comparing seat tube size with other bikes. Drop us a line at size@cotic.co.uk and we'll be happy to discuss size and set up based on what you're riding at the moment.

Complete bikes from: £1799
Bikes are now available worldwide, with free shipping to UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
We have several levels of stock build which are based around our favourite parts in builds you can trust. We never specify anything we haven't ridden, tested and enjoyed. However, just about everything in your build can be customised to help with fit (contact us if you need help) or to personalise your bike. Want a different fork? Shock? Brakes? Wheels? Tyres? Bars? Stem? Longer drop seatpost? Women's saddle? Men's saddle? Colour matched Hope components? No problem. It's your bike.
All the bikes are assembled from a frame right here in the UK by us. We can do everything from bare frame to complete bike: Send us your favourite saddle and grips to fit. Send us your wheels if you have a nice pair you want to use. There's no point you getting kit you don't want. It's wasteful. That gives you almost limitless options to customise and tune your bike to your needs. If you can't see an option you'd like on the order form, get in touch. We all know it's good to head off piste sometimes!
Tap on a build title below to see the default specification and price for that build... then hit the 'CONFIGURE YOUR BIKE' button to see all the customisations you can make to the build. When you select your country at the bottom of the form, sales taxes (VAT), pricing and shipping will automatically update for you. Once you're happy, order your bike!

The Escapade uses our Ultra Compact Geometry idea, keeping seat tubes fairly short and frames compact for plenty of room to move on the bike, and a longer seatpost for ride comfort. Actual top tube lengths follow more traditional road geometry, with proportional fit and optimised head angles to maintrain ride feel whilst minimising toe overlap.
The Escapade uses our Fe custom butted Heat Treated Cromoly to design a perfect frame to our exact specifications. It features the Cotic Ovalform top tube for optimised ride and handling, and a smooth integral headset tapered head tube. Custom shaped heat treated cromoly rear end completes the picture for the lightest, toughest, most beautiful riding frame. Durable, clean, graceful.
The Escapade features our latest fork - the RB5. Full carbon, just 550 grams, it's light, strong, rides beautifully and has tonnes of clearance. 700x45 or 650x50 in the front should you so wish. All modern conveniences are included, with 12x100 thru axle, flat mount brakes and mudguard eyelets.
The latest Cotic Escapade now features the industry standard 142x12 rear thru axle to match the 12x100 front fork.
The Escapade as been a gravel bike since before there were gravel bikes. It's always had big clearances and discs, but we think that works just as well on road as off it. Frames have big clearances for big tyres. Sure you can speed it up on something like a 700x28c, but we supply the bikes with big volume 37c slicks. They roll really fast, but float over the potholes in the road and bumps in the trail. With the improved clearance now, you can run up to 700x44 no problem.
Alongside this we have the option for WTB Road Plus, using their fantastic 650b KOM Light rims, and the WTB 650 x 47 tubeless tyres. There's the Horizon slick for smiles and miles, or the radical new Senduro ramped knob tyre, which blurs the lines between road and offroad, and the Byway semi-tread tyre fitting in between as the all rounder. Improved mud clearance and you can fit up to 650x50 tyres.
Smaller rims with big volume tyres give a similar overall diameter to the more usual 700c road wheels, but comfort and grip are massively improved. The larger 47mm wide tyres running tubeless as low as 35 psi float over road imperfections and rough tracks with no weight penalty over the larger 700c wheels and smaller tyres.
In response to customer feedback with 1x drivetrain options leaving redundent cable stops on the previous Escapade, the new bike offer multiple cable management solutions, including semi-internal routing for gear cables and optional internal routing for a dropper post.
All Cotic bikes are assembled in the UK from and frame up. This way, we can build exactly what you want. Your dream bike!
We have set specifications, but these are just the start. If it's not a choice on the order form, just ask. We have a bunch of wheel options from Hope, tyre options from WTB and Panaracer, and many more things to make your Escapade your own.
When you contact us you are talking to the people who design the frames and will be building your bike. We check it and build and pack it in our award winning bike boxes with the same care we would our own bike, because we know how important it is. We build your bike, for you.

Cotic frames are designed, developed, engineered and tested entirely by us at our base in the Peak District, near Sheffield in the UK. Our founder - Cy Turner - is the lead designer and engineer, and our frames are rigorously ride tested by everyone at Cotic, and our Race Team. They are fully certified and lab tested in excess of the requirements of ISO4210 safety standards.
This frame is hand made in Taiwan by our specially selected framebuilder, chosen because of their vast experience with our favourite materials, and their top quality finish. They are the best in Taiwan for what we need.
Each frame is dip coated inside and out with zinc phosphate before painting, to prevent corrosion and ensure the best paint finish. After we've agonised over the colours, designs and decals the frames are painted to the highest quality including a protective clear coat, before extensive QC by our agent in Taiwan. Once the frames reach us in the UK, we carry out further QC, and prep the frames for headset and bottom bracket installation.
As always, all complete bikes are built to order by us here in the Peak District, to the exact spec of your choice. We build your bike for you.
