Well this is exciting! I am very proud to introduce you to the new Cotic Rocket, the worlds' first high performance steel ebike.

Why Ebike?

We are big fans of ebikes here at Cotic. We love the way they can compress 8 laps of the woods into 2 hours, how you can try and ride up silly technical things just because you can. They give access to our beautiful sport to more people. I've seen the joy in my friend's eyes because he's finally able to ride with us again having survived cancer. I've used mine more than any other bike to ride to work on this year. Ultimately ebikes have made us ride more and further this year, and that's brilliant. They can do that for you too.

100% hand made in the UK, our new ebike is everything you would expect from Cotic: Gorgeous ride feel, innovative steel design, lots of options to make it yours, all backed up with our legendary customer service.

The Rocket is a clean sheet design with some new ideas, bringing all of steel’s wonderful advantages to an ebike. This is what we do.

The most obvious departure from the norm (apart from using steel) is the external battery, but it brings a lot of benefits.

Firstly, the external battery allowed me to save weight. A steel down tube and external battery is lighter than a large aluminium tube with an internal battery. Most importantly for a Cotic, it allowed me to dial in some flex and ride feel, and using steel just felt right. It always does!

The added bonus of the external battery is that it comes in 3 sizes from lightweight 418Wh to full fat 630Wh, all easily swapped with the twist of a key in under 10 seconds, so you can choose lightweight or full power in the same bike.

The Rocket is the most authentically Cotic expression of what an ebike should be. It's beautifully clean lined, incredible build quality, it has feel and balance that you have to experience. This is the antithesis of the mass produced homogeneity you see everywhere else. Bold use of material, skilfully wrought by people who care deeply about what they do.

It's a greatest hits of everything we have learned over the last 21 years.

The bikes in the photos and video for this launch are the final prototypes. The swingarms are from the original development frames, and for production will be much tidier, with UDH and a disc mounted speed sensor. Other than that, these are production spec. We are taking orders on a deposit only basis for initial delivery in April 2025.

I'm especially happy because today marks the culmination of 5 years of effort to make a Cotic ebike a reality. It's a huge thing for us, and if you've been following along for a while, you'll know that the Rocket as it is now is very different to the first prototypes we got a few years ago.

It's not just about the bike. This is a much more human story at it's core. It's about me and my team trying hard for a long time to do something difficult, but worthwhile. Grab a brew and have a read about how we got here....
