Full Time Sales/Demo Role
£25k, pro rata, plus bonus & benefits
UK Travelling Role
Sheffield Based
With the recent introduction of the Rocket275 full suspension frame - as well as running successful hardtail model lines - we see the key for expanding our sales is demo rides. We are currently limited to our Calver demos due to our staffing levels, and whilst effective, we need to roll this kind of event out around the country.
This role is based around being out on the road 3-4 days per week over most weekends, with a demo fleet, and the aim is to use a combination of the Cotic mailing list, social media, and other contacts to organise formal and informal demos of the bikes. You will be confident and easily approachable, happy to talk to groups or one-to-one, technically adept, with a good knowledge of cycling and mountain biking in particular. You will be on the road our your own so you will be self-starting and highly motivated and able with work with little direction, and be confident and creative enough to make decisions in the field. You will be running and maintaining the demo fleet, setting up and adjusting the bikes for demo riders, so a level of competence as a bike mechanic is essential.
As a result of the need to fit in around other peoples' ride times in evenings and weekends, it will be fully flexible hours, so if you're meeting a group for a night ride one Thursday, for example, then your day could be 3-10. We would expect working 3 weekends in 4 or similar, and when you're not on the road you'd likely be office or home based getting on top of scouting, planning, organising, contacting and following up.
During your travels we expect you to visit our dealers to keep our profile raised with them. You will also be expected to do some media PR, for example getting involved with relevant magazines and websites and gaining brand exposure, talking to dealers, writing blog style newsletters, and providing content for Cotic's social media streams under the guidance of our marketing team. It is your opportunity to be a 'face' of the Cotic brand.
We value as much input as possible on future model development, so you will get involved in product development and some prototype testing from time to time. If you have good ideas for bikes you think will sell, then we can look at these options. You will be our eyes and ears on the ground so your feedback will be valuable in helping us improve our products and introduce new ones.
The role is largely UK based, but we would also be happy for this to expand into Europe if it makes sense. For instance, heading to the Passportes du Soleil wouldn't be a bad way to spend one of the weeks. We're open to ideas so get creative! Being Sheffield based would be very advantageous, but as this is largely a travelling role throughout the country we are open to discussing you being based from another location if you're the right candidate.
This would be a permanent, salaried position, at £25k per annum plus a bonus scheme connected with overall company performance. There will be an initial 6 month trial period with an option to finish at that point from both sides.
It includes the use of the vehicle provided, phone, expenses, and a company bike and riding kit as well as access to all our trade accounts for your own use.
Cotic is small company, currently a core team of 4 people, so you have the opportunity to have a big impact on the company and the future direction we will take. We're looking for someone to bring some new energy and views to add to the mix.
To apply, please forward CV and covering letter and any questions you may have to Cy Turner at cy@cotic.co.uk. Closing date for applications is Friday 4th December.
